"It was fun to be out there, to do the shoot. The James Dean look, hence, the leather jacket. I don't know if I'll get hit on too bad for this."

GQ Magazine, September 20073971 views"Young Guns", All Hail The Young QB's:
Ben Roethlisberger, Age 25.
Team: Pittsburgh Steelers
Team: Pittsburgh Steelers
At least this off-season, Ben Roethlisberger didn’t…well, you know. Last summer the Super Bowl XL champion was lucky to survive a scary motorcycle accident in downtown Pittsburgh and then followed it up with his most uneven NFL season to date, suddenly looking mortal as the Steelers failed to make the playoffs. Now the guy who won twenty-seven of the first thirty-one games he played is toiling for a new coach (Mike Tomlin, who replaces the square-jawed Bill Cowher), under a new system that’ll entrust him with the offense more than Cowher ever did, and he’s in peak physical condition. Then there’s that brand-new chip on his shoulder, which we have to admit to liking. “I like being the underdog,†Roethlisberger says. “I like having everyone against me.†It’s Big Ben’s challenge to the nonbelievers. We wouldn’t dare take him up on it.

Men's Fitness - 25 Fittest Guys Issue, June-July 2006 Article3659 views"The Lord of the Ring"
Ben Roethlisberger
"...But the most interesting thing about this pigskin-flinging prodigy, who's know to bust a bushy beard and hoard six motorcycles in his garage, is not his eye-popping record. It's the way Roethlisberger plays the game. He competes with an unmistakable swagger that's reminiscent of John Elway and Dan Marino. Say's Roethlisberger, 'Growing up, I always wanted an arm like Marino or Elway. So if I could be like anybody, I'd want to be like those two guys.'"

"Driving Home" by Jerome Bettis2940 viewsBettis on Ben Roethlishberger, P. 3
"When Ben got here, I took on the role of big brother. Warren Moon told him to look me up when he got in town, that I would help him out and guide him. When he got here, he asked me to come by and talk to him, so I did. We talked, and I gave him an understanding of what to expect as a first-rounder. I told him I was a former first-round pick, even though it was quite a few years ago, and I understood the expectations and everything that was being asked of him, things to be careful of as a young guy. The relationship developed from the standpoint of my being a big brother, telling him what to do, what not to do, to speak only when spoken to as a rookie, those kind of things. He is definitely the little brother. He is always after me trying to get the upper hand and get back at me. I am always getting on him, so whenever he has the opportunity to get on me, he does that."
