Ben with his family in Switzerland - 20062115 viewsThe U.S. Embassy was never closer to American Football than last Sunday evening: The famous Pittsburgh Steeler quarterback, Ben Roethlisberger (winner of the 2006 Super Bowl), attended a dinner in his honor at the Embassy's Residence in Bern. Before this dinner, the American Employees Association organized a "Meet and Greet" with the superstar. His visit to the Residence was a tremendous success. More than 40 people attended and it is not a surprise that more children hailed "Big Ben" than employees and their spouses. For the dinner, the Chargé d'affaires, Carol Urban invited the two quarterbacks from Switzerland's own football teams: the Bern Grizzlies' Mario Dini and the Bienna Jets' Kevin Keene. Earlier in the day, Ben Roethlisberger watched the Jets and the Grizzlies play a Swiss National Football League game, which was won by the Grizzlies 14-9.

From Vogard.com1261 viewsThe American Football star Ben Roethlisberger and his family recently paid a visit to Switzerland to discover their ancestry through the Swiss Roots organisation. Many typically Swiss customs and traditions were introduced to Ben during his five-day trip, but the one he found most interesting was watchmaking. Ben is a great watch enthusiast and so, at a special ceremony in his ancestral town of Lauperswil, he was presented with a VOGARD Personal Edition watch by the brand's creator, Michael Vogt. Ben asked to have the names of Pittsburgh and Lauperswil incorporated into the bezel and for the watch case to be engraved with No. 07, his Pittsburgh Steelers playing number.
Ben’s comment on the patented timezoner movement was brief and concise: "That’s a touch down". Michael is delighted that, from now on, everywhere Ben goes he will be accompanied by a little piece of Switzerland.Feb 04, 2007
