November 10, 2019 - Rams vs Steelers464 viewsMatt Freed captured this moment on the field between Ben and Dick Hoak.
Did you know?
“Chosen by the Steelers in the seventh round of the 1961 NFL Draft, Hoak had an impressive career, amassing 3,965 rushing yards in 1132 attempts (3.5 avg) with 25 touchdowns. He also caught 146 passes for 1,452 yards (9.9 avg) and 8 touchdowns. He was named to one Pro Bowl and led the team in rushing three times. He retired after the 1970 season as Pittsburgh’s number 2 all-time rusher, and is currently fifth all time in rushing yards out of all Steelers.
Hoak was hired by then-coach Chuck Noll as running backs coach in 1972, and served in that position for 20 seasons. He passed on the head coaching job with the USFL’s Pittsburgh Maulers when offered it in 1983. Noll retired in 1991, and Hoak was the only one of Noll’s assistants retained under his successor, Bill Cowher.
During his tenure, the Steelers rushed for over 30,000 yards (the only team to do so in this time period) and led the league in rushing yards three times. He was the position coach for Steeler greats Franco Harris and Jerome Bettis.â€Nov 11, 2019

October 6, 2019 - Ravens vs Steelers454 viewsJ.D. (the talented young actor who voiced Simba from “The Lion Kingâ€) sang a beautiful rendition of the National Anthem that had fans raving on social media. But it was pretty clear from his excitement and that big smile that meeting and having his photo taken with #7 was the highlight of HIS day!

September 30, 2019 - Bengals vs Steelers732 views“He’s very encouraging. In the situation we’re in now he shoots me texts and little reminders. I may have a question here or there, pre-snap communication or something like that, how to handle our veteran O-line…just when you spend more time with somebody you’re going to get closer to them and we have a great relationship now.†— Mason Rudolph during his ESPN Monday Night Football interview when asked how his relationship with Ben is “right nowâ€.Oct 08, 2019

August 13, 2019 - RIP Coach Drake340 viewsA prayer before practice for Coach Darryl Drake. Photo: Steelers.
“We’re all devastated by (the passing of Coach Drake). I really can’t think of any other appropriate words,†said Tomlin. “Our time and attention in the recent days has been spent in support of the Drake family. Miss Sheila and Darryl’s daughters and extended family – many of us have had an opportunity to spend time with them through this. They’ve been amazing. In making arrangements and adjusting, we’ve tried to be as supportive organizationally to them as we can in what is a very difficult time. Professionally the loss is significant, but personally it’s even bigger.†— Coach Mike Tomlin today.
