September, 2010 - Working with Mr. Whitfield1743 viewsBen trained with quarterbacks coach George Whitfield for several weeks at a local Pittsburgh area high school.
“It’s not like I have Mike Tomlin standing behind me to reinforce what I say. But I might as well have. Ben’s been very coachable. He’s fired up to do this. I was a little intimidated at first, because I didn’t know what to expect. But he’s excited to come to work every day when I’m with him, and he’s putting his time to good use.†– George Whitfield on working with Ben, from SI.com.

September, 2010 - Working with Mr. Whitfield1829 views I've been looking forward to talking to the Steel City about their leader. In regard to Ben being ready... He's ready. He's been through a one-man training camp. It was meticulous, it was filmed, it was Western PA blue collar style. There were three workouts we did right out in the rain, just a downpour, and I was just waiting for him to say 'maybe we take this inside,' and at no time did he even flinch. And you know, he's throwing four or five pound footballs and things like that, and he went right after it. He's ready, he's sharp, the guy's in great shape and more than anything he's excited. So you blend all that together and I think when they uncage him in 13 days, he's gonna be ready to go. I think you guys will be excited." -- George Whitfield, from his interview on 93.7 - The Fan, October 5, 2010.

September, 2010 - Working with Mr. Whitfield2036 views "My entire adult life has been in football. Had a chance to play with Coach Trexell at Youngstown State, I was Assistant Coach at the university of Iowa. And when I was at Iowa Ben came in as a freshman and put on a great show. He had an 80 yard touchdown run as a Freshman....yeh, an 80 yard run as a freshman. You can check that out, it might be on YouTube. On the field that day, Bob Sanders (now with) the Colts, Aaron Campman and at least 7 or 8 other current defensive players were on the field and he had an 80 yard touchdown run. I knew the guy was special then." -- George Whitfield, from his interview on 93.7 - The Fan, October 5, 2010.

September, 2010 - Working with Mr. Whitfield1901 views"For myself, I've been training QB's out here in San Diego. I have Whitfield Athletix, with an X, and we have high school and college guys. Over the last couple years I have had some opportunities to work with some agencies to get guys ready for the draft, who came out to train with us. Last year we worked with Tony Pike who came in from Cincinatti, Rusty Smith from Florida Atlantic who is now with the Titans, Hunter Cantwell came out from Louisville, and now he's with the Baltimore Ravens. Had a chance to work some pro days and push these guys through. It's kind of similar. They're out there for three months...their football lives depended on how sharp they can show up to their workouts, and do they have their weaknesses knocked out. So I was used to this kind of setting, this kind of regimen. I know for Ben, for pro quarterbacks in season, they're not used to this type of work. But it went well, and I'm excited that he's excited." -- George Whitfield, on 93.7 - The Fan, October 5, 2010.
