Inside of "SI - 50 Years of Faces in the Crowd", 12/15/063938 viewsBen Roethlisberger, Quarterback, Pittsburgh Steelers
>The day Ben Roethlisberger appeared in FACES IN THE CROWD, Findlay High School athletic director Jerry Snodgrass decided to have some fun. He scanned the magazine page into his computer at school and changed key words to make the item read as if it were celebrating the star quarterback's achievements in dodgeball. When Roethlisberger read it, Snodgrass recalls, he laughed so hard "he just literally rolled on the floor."
The joke page was fun, but Roethlisberger remembers the real one as a benchmark in his young career. "It was my first time ever in a magazine, one I subscribed to since I was real little," he says. "So to be in there was just awesome." After four years at Miami (Ohio), Roethlisberger was taken in the first round by the Steelers, and became the starter the second game of the season and went 14-1, becoming the Rookie of the Year. In his second year, he led the Steelers to victory in Super Bowl XL.

November 13, 2007 - Ben named Steelers Player of the Week for Browns Game2145 views"Dramatic comebacks don't usually happen in the NFL without great play from the quarterback, and the Steelers got that from Ben Roethlisberger through the second half [of their game against the Browns].
During a second half that had the Steelers come back from a 21-9 deficit to win, Roethlisberger completed 13 of 17 for 170 yards, with two touchdowns and no interceptions for a passer rating of 146.7. He also ran for 40 yards, including a 30-yard touchdown.
He is the Steelers Digest Player of the Week.
Also considered were James Harrison, who forced two fumbles on defense and made two special teams tackles: Clark Haggans, who lead the special teams tackles: and Heath Miller, who caught five passes for 72 yards, including the game-winning touchdown."

ESPN Magazine, August 13, 2007 issue2243 viewsBen (signing autographs at training camp) in the mag's "Zoom" photo feature.
caption (in typical ESPN fashion):
Signing Bonus:
Last year, Ben Roethlisberger limped into TC dogged by questions about judgment and maturity after a nasty motorcycle wreck. This year, the love was unconditional-at least from the Delia's set-as Bergermania raged in Latrobe, PA.-the Steelers summer home. As for those fans more concerned with last years 23 picks than this year's new haircut, the jury is still out.
