October 7, 2007 - Steelers vs. Seahawks746 viewsFrom the Seattle Times (10-08-07):
The Seahawks actually put a lot of pressure on Ben Roethlisberger, and Julian Peterson (left) succeeds in bringing him down here. More often than not, though, Roethlisberger got away to make a big play for the Steelers.

Reed comes through in the clutch

Coach Mike Tomlin gathered the team around him and laid it out for them. There was one more field goal attempt left in the special teams period, and then it would be time for 30 minutes of banging heads … but … if Jeff Reed made the final field goal of special teams period – 42 yards out with the ball on the left hash – practice would be over. Miss it, and the team drills would start with the no-huddle. Oh, and Reed had just missed on his previous attempt.
"The hardest thing in practice is trying to create game-like situations," said special teams coach Bob Ligashesky. "That was pretty much as close to a game situation as you could get right there."
This special teams period had begun with Connor Hughes kicking field goals, and when he was finished, Reed stepped up for his turn. By then, Tomlin had told Ben Roethlisberger and Hines Ward what was coming, because they started yelling to the kicker, "Take us home, Reed. Take us home."

1316 viewsBen wisely checks the inside of his helmet to make sure Mike Wallace hasn't put lizards or grasshoppers in it!
Okay, not really! But it still might be a wise idea, just in case there's payback coming:
“He’s a jokester. He plays with you too much, always joking, always trying to play a trick on someone. You got to watch him. He’s doing all types of stuff when we were at camp; he puts lizards and stuff in people’s helmets, especially rookies. He put snowballs (iceballs) in there. I don’t know if it was a lizard, it might have been a grasshopper, but it was something on the field, something from the country, because you don’t do that in the city. Touch insects on the ground? No way. But that’s my dog, man.†— Mike Wallace providing a bit of insider info on his quarterback.
