Game ball for Lil' Fan Richard Culliver919 views“That was the first time we’ve done the victory formation, I believe this year, to take a knee to end it, and I wanted to keep that. There’s a little boy that's been very sick that has been on my website, and has been checking in…and I want to send that to him.†-- Ben, post-game when asked why he kept the game ball. October 21, 2012.
You can see how tightly Ben held on to that football after the game -

October 11, 2012 - Richard Culliver1051 viewsRichard was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor just one week prior to the Steelers vs Titans game in Tennessee. His “absolute dream†was to go to a Steelers game.
That’s when Jason “Moose†Cunningham and the members of Augusta SteelMasters, a Steelers fan club based in Augusta, Georgia stepped up. SteelMasters purchased the game tickets and assisted with the lodging for Richard and his family to make the trip to Tennessee’s LP Field from their home in South Carolina.
Game night arrived and not only did Richard get to watch his beloved Steelers in person, he got to meet them on the field before the game, courtesy of Coach Mike Tomlin who presented the family with field passes!
Richard, the new man about town (or at least about LP Field), was also asked by the Tennessee Titans cheerleaders to pose with them for a photo! After all, they had heard he was a “big celebrityâ€!

October 11, 2012 - Richard Culliver1426 viewsJason "Moose" Cunningham and his members at Augusta SteelMasters, a Steelers fan club in Augusta, Georgia purchased tickets for the family to attend the game. Once there, he was allowed on the field, courtesy of Coach Mike Tomlin who presented the family with field passes!
But it wasn't just Coach Tomlin and his Steelers players that made Richard's first game special, players from the Tennessee Titans - Chris Johnson, Derek Mason, and former Steeler Nate Washington autographed a football for Richard which was presented to him by former Steeler Yancey Thigpen. And that penalty flag? That came from the NFL's most popular referee, Ed Hochuli! Even the Tennessee Titans cheerleaders asked to pose for a photo with Richard because they heard he was a "big celebrity"!

The Hixenbaugh Men....1086 viewsDad Jeff, sons Jared (left) and Jaxen wear their #7's proudly.
From Jeff:
"I would like to let you know that Ben and the Steelers have gotten me through some very tough times. My middle son Jayden passed away over 4 years ago. He was 3-1/2 years old and had his own unique genetic disorder. We almost lost him after his 1 year birthday. He was in the hospital the whole month of Jan. 2006 in the PICU. I would go there to give his mom a break on Saturday evening. Sunday I would put on my #7 jersey and put my Terrible Towel over Jayden. I did this for all three playoff games. He was home for the Super Bowl win. Even now I think of Jayden a little harder when my Steelers are playing. So thank you Ben and the Steelers. Sep 23, 2012

According to his mom, his dream has remained the same since he was 3-years old - to proudly wear the black & gold as a Steelers player some day. He works hard for his little league team and practices plays all the time. He is steadily preparing for that one day when his dream comes true.
